Sequence
A new number pattern every day. You're shown 5 terms of a hidden sequence — figure out the rule and guess the 6th term. Each guess tells you whether to go higher or lower, and how hot or cold you are. You get 6 guesses, and every wrong one unlocks another hint. Good luck.
Figure out the pattern and guess the sixth term.
6 guesses left
How to play
- You'll see 5 numbers that follow a hidden pattern.
- Figure out the rule and guess the sixth number.
- Each guess tells you whether to go higher or lower, and how close you are.
- Every wrong guess unlocks a new hint.
- You have 6 tries to nail it.
How to play
Every puzzle shows the first 5 terms of a numeric sequence, generated from an underlying rule. Type your guess for the 6th term and submit. If you're wrong, you'll learn two things: which direction the real answer lies (higher or lower than your guess), and how close you were, from a proximity read of Bullseye, Hot, Warm, or Cold. You have 6 guesses to land on the exact term.
The weekday difficulty ladder
The rule family behind the sequence changes with the day of the week, ramping up in difficulty from Monday to Sunday — the same idea as a crossword's week-long difficulty curve.
- Monday — Arithmetic. Each term differs from the one before it by the same fixed amount.
- Tuesday — Geometric. Each term is the one before it multiplied by the same fixed factor.
- Wednesday — Quadratic. The differences between consecutive terms change by a constant amount each step.
- Thursday — Fibonacci-like. Each term is the sum of the two terms right before it.
- Friday — Alternating operations. Two different operations take turns, one on odd steps and the other on even steps.
- Saturday — Interleaved sequences. The odd positions and the even positions each quietly follow their own simple arithmetic pattern.
- Sunday — Wildcard. Drawn from Friday's or Saturday's family, with tighter numbers for an extra edge of difficulty.
The hint ladder
Hints are optional and never required — but if a puzzle has you stuck, every wrong guess unlocks one more, cumulative, without ever handing over the answer outright:
- 1st wrong guess reveals the rule family (e.g. "Geometric").
- 2nd wrong guess reveals a structural nudge about how that family works.
- 3rd wrong guess reveals the 7th term of the sequence — the one right after the answer you're solving for.
- 4th wrong guess reveals a numeric bracket that the answer falls inside.
Streaks and daily play
One puzzle unlocks per calendar day. Finishing today's puzzle — whether you win or run out of guesses — locks in your result and extends (or resets) your streak. Everything is saved on your own device; there's no account to create. You can also replay any past day in practice mode without touching your streak.
Frequently asked questions
- What is Sequence?
- Sequence is a free daily number puzzle. You're shown the first 5 terms of a hidden numeric pattern and have 6 tries to guess the 6th term. Every guess tells you whether the answer is higher or lower, plus a hot/cold read on how close you are.
- What's the weekday difficulty ladder?
- Every day of the week uses its own family of pattern, from easiest to hardest: Monday is arithmetic (add the same amount each time), Tuesday is geometric (multiply by the same factor), Wednesday is quadratic (the differences between terms change by a constant amount), Thursday is Fibonacci-like (each term is the sum of the two before it), Friday alternates two operations back and forth, Saturday interleaves two separate arithmetic sequences on the odd and even positions, and Sunday is a wildcard drawn from Friday's or Saturday's family with tighter numbers.
- How do the hints work?
- Hints unlock automatically, one per wrong guess, and never hand over the answer outright. Your first wrong guess reveals the pattern family (e.g. "geometric"). Your second reveals a structural nudge about how that family works. Your third reveals the 7th term — the one right after the answer. Your fourth reveals a numeric bracket the answer falls inside.
- How many guesses do I get?
- Six guesses per puzzle, same as the classic word-guessing games this format is inspired by.
- Does Sequence reset every day?
- Yes — a new puzzle unlocks daily and your streak, history, and today's progress are saved on your device (no account needed). Past puzzles stay playable in practice mode without affecting your streak.
